If I'm ever going to be anywhere other than home for a long period of time, I have to have at least a basic set of tools with me. They've definitely come into use multiple times at the school dorms for me or to help another person with something like a broken doorknob. Having to call and wait for maintenance to come for simple things seems ridiculous to me.
